With as much printing as goes on in a hospital/healthcare setting, every entity has to have a herd of reliable printers. Slowly but surely we've found that most of the printers that wind up being weeded out are non-Xerox printers and they're mainly being replaced by Xerox Printers. Three reasons for this, and the 6180 has only further set the opinion in stone.
#1 - Quality. They don't break.
#2 - Reliability. They print without issue. When there's something that needs done (maintenance-wise) you are warned well ahead of time with straight-forward messages instead of the cryptic cypher on some printer that take a secret decoder ring to figure out.
#3 - Printing. It prints a quality product and does it quickly.
There's really not much more to say
I would recommend this to others.

Prints with speed. Decent color quality. Not good for photos. Eats up envelopes, which has been a problem since 2003 and was never remedied and Xerox won't service it, so you can't use for mailings. Also, scanning is extremely slow and unstable and can only be done when network connection is USB. Xerox should fix these problems.

I bought six of these in December of 2007 for deployment as a public printer at small branches (<15 total computers) of a regional public library. Three have performed flawlessly and reliably. The other three have complained of fatal failures requiring a power cycle to clear and had the display on the control panel fail completely or exhibit severe streaking and have printed less than 20,000 pages. Toner cost per page is a tad high for my liking and replacement fuser and transfer unit components cost more than a new unit. This is my first purchase of Xerox products and so far I am unimpressed with their robustness and longevity.

Snow Leopard removed the SMB protocol which is a vital piece of scanning to a Mac. I have 2 phasers that will not scan anymore. It is a shame, this was the only multifunction that worked perfectly with a Mac, not it does not.

You can use FTP...

The best workaround to the removal of SMB is to run an FTP server on your MAC, and then scan to FTP from the printer. I just tried this using an FTP app called Rumpus, although there is a built-in FTP app that you can launch from the Terminal. Not as convenient as using a USB-connected scanner, but it'll do. Note that other companies like Brother have Internet-ready scan apps that work fine over wireless, so Xerox is a bit behind the times here...

We bought this machine primary because of it's comparatively low cost per print. However, we've been really impressed with how easily this product networks and the ability to scan items and send them to different folders on the server. We've had the machine for over a year and have had no problems. We've become Xerox converts.
I would recommend this to others.

I have this printer for 3 years now and it is super reliable and fast. It is good for home or small bsuiness and it is network ready. In addtion, it can do duplex printing (printing on top and bottom faces of a single page) to save paper.
The only complains are very expensive toners and the fax modem cannot be used by a connected computer using USB or network cable.
I would recommend this to others.

My co-workers and I love the 6180MFP from XEROX. The print quality is terrific, even on "cheap" paper. We have not taken the time to learn all the functionality, but what we do use is great. The toner lasts a long time, at least for our office. This is good, because the ink/toner is pretty expensive. We have found coupons and coupon codes that take away some of the $$ sting.
I would recommend this to others.

This is an excellent, professional grade, high quality printer. It makes excellent color and B&W prints. I retired from the University of Washington and use this for my home printer. It is capable of doing everything my department's office printer did but at an affordable price. Remarkable excellence at a good price.

I have used the Xerox Phaser series for many years and it has always been a reliable, easy to use, fast and high quality color printer. It also has easy scanning and faxing functions that I use all of the time. We use our 6180MFP constantly and probably more than we should. I'm surprised it hasn't started smoking and having problems but it hasn't. It is a true workhorse!
Of all of the printers I have used throughout my career, I can easily say that Xerox makes a quality product that takes a licking and keeps on ticking!
I would recommend this to others.

I've had my Phaser 6180MFP now for 2 years, I can honestly say it does it all and more. I can scan forms into my network as PDF's, I can email forms directly from the scanner, print color or b&w quickly. If your looking for a Multi-Function that works as hard as you, this is the machine.

I have had the Phaser 6180MFP for 3 years now and was just saying to my assistant, Matthew yesterday, that it has been a great machine. The color is excellent on all reports and it has not had a lot of issues. This is the second Xeros that I have owned for my small home office. I will choose Xerox the next time, but hopefully this machine has lots of life left!

Our company has been using the Phaser for two years now, and it's been a great product. The printing is crisp, and the colors are vivid. This printer is perfect for marketing material (fliers, pamphlets, etc.) The only complaint is the speed of scanning, which is slower than we would like. Our office has six people and the device is used moderately, and it's a perfect unit for our uses!

I use this Machine to print a high quantity for our non profit organization. For the bulk that I print, this printer handles itself pretty well, as long as it is being babysat. The printer paper jams frequently, even when the offending parts are replaced, the new ones quickly wear down to the point of repetitive jamming. If you have the time to babysit your printer, then everything else works wonderfully, the quality is generally good and the speed, when jams are kept in check, is OK. The printer handles card stock well but I do not recommend this printer to print pictures, as the colors on photos don't always turn out the way one would expect.
If you get this printer, it is a great idea to get the service plan, as the technicians who came to repair were very helpful, and with the jamming and replacement parts you'll need, the service plan will pay for itself.

The machine works well and puts out nice prints but there are a couple of these that drive me nuts. Thus, my overall rating is low while the individual ratings are high.
First, machine eats toner faster than any laser (or color laser) I have used.
Second, if one toner color runs out the machine shuts down and won't print... so if the cyan is out, you cant even print black and white... so you have to always have extra toner on hand and can't even run to the office store to replace or the machine is out of service to everyone else while you go and get it.
Finally, note that the scanner/copier mechanism does not scan duplex. When I purchased, this was not clear. I was looking for a duplex'ing machine. This seemed to imply it, but that was just the printing part.
