Upsides -- no longer buying expensive print cartridges, and we saved a lot of money making our own brochures and handouts, instead of sending them to the printer.
Downsides -- don't like the continual warmup periods (nearly every time I print something)
Overall -- a 4.

Not long ago, whenever I needed a workbook, flyer, or manual sent to a customer, I would do the graphical work on my computer, proof it on my laser printer, and then send it off to the printer to be printed professionally.
Since I starting using the 8860, I began to notice that the print quality between what the printer sent me vs. what I had proofed was nearly identical.
Once I realized this, I started printing nearly everything myself in my own office, and my customers haven't noticed a difference. The cost savings is incredible!
Now, unless I have a full-gloss magazine-quality brochure, or a a project with a very high volume, I use my 8860 to print all of my finished product.
And it still doubles as the office scanner, printer, fax, and copier!
I would recommend this to others.

Pros: The 8860 has been very reliable and cost effective! The 3 -tier meter system has really allowed my church to print above and beyond our normal print volume without adding to our budget. The Scan utility is simply AMAZING; very easy to use!
The Solid Ink makes our cheap paper look expensive (Good Job Xerox)!
Cons: Should have purchased it sooner:)

We have loved this Phaser since day one. It's superior print quality and ease of use for our end users makes this a perfect addition to our line of other Xerox MFPs we use throughout our division. For anyone looking for a great color MFP and is needing to save moeny, this is a great model. For the size of staff using it, we have no issues with what it can do. What a great choice we made in leasing this MFP. Thanks Xerox.

This is a great product EXCEPT it does not meet our expectations as far as our specific printing needs. The print quality is great, ease of use is excellent (even for those of us who are not very electronically oriented), speed is OK for most needs. However, when printing multiple copies, (100 books of approximately 35 pages), I often have an "error" message which interrupts the print job. It is a waste of time and paper, (and money) and also a real problem to re-instruct the machine to pick up where it left off. Time to change to a different machine, I think.
No, I would not recommend this to others.

Our company consolidated the majority of network printers to Xerox. Service is good. Calls placed to Xerox Support are responded to in a timely matter. Phone support is good. Requested supplies are either shipped overnight or delivered by a representative. Our Xerox Accounts Manager stops by once a month to check over all machines and checks in with local IT Help Desk. Most of all we enjoy the scan to network feature that saves paper!
I would recommend this to others.

We are extremely pleased with our Phaser 8860MFP. It provides us with everything we had hoped for. The print quality is superb. It is relatively inexpensive to operate including ink and other supplies. It is very versatile and meets our varied publishing needs.
Many things that we formally had to send out to a printer we can now do in house. This has saved us a lot of money.. I would recommend it to anyone who needs a quality, multi-function printer and copier in a small shop environment.
I would recommend this to others.

This printer can do almost anything; it scans, faxes, prints high quality documents, and uses eco-friendly wax instead of ink cartridges. However, I have had so many problems with this printer in the last few months! Every day we would turn the printer on and it would have an error message and not allow us to scan or fax anything. We've changed multiple parts on it in hopes of solving the problem but the printer is still giving us error messages. As much as I would like to recommend this printer, I honestly can't after experiencing so many problems. Great, multifunctional printer, but poor manufacturing.
No, I would not recommend this to others.

I purchased our first Xerox color Phaser 8860MFP multifunction machine about a year ago. It's a great product with excellent features, low cost per page color printing, and the solid ink is easy to install and so much cleaner and easier than toner cartridges. My company liked it so much that we bought another recently and we are very pleased. Warning: People like the quality so much better than our old B&W laser printer that no one wants to use the old printer any more.
Speed is great when printing lots of stuff. Takes a while to warm up if it has gone into low power mode.
I would recommend this to others.

To say the least would be best. We have had nothing but trouble with ours. When it arrived the scanner was broke, a new scanner was order and only lasted about a month. A another scanner was order and the plug didn't match so the repair guy used a pair of plier and screwdriver to put it together. That didn't last. So instead of ordering another one I asked for a whole new machine. Down time was 4 weeks before we were able to use it. Xerox did not want to help. and they billed me for it

The 8860 is a fast multi-tasker with many user freindly features. The print quality is excellent. The features are easy to use and intuitive. My sole complaint is that the printed copies have a waxy surface that can occassionally be hard to write on. All in all an excellent printer.
I would recommend this to others.

I am beginning to learn all of the features of my Phaser 8860MFP. The software that came with my printer helps me to scan directly into an email and stacks all of the PDF files in that scan.
If I want to combine several documents into one PDF file it will stack them for me into one file. There are many other great options that I have not learned yet.
The colors are vibrant and the machine does a great job of keeping ahead of the ink running out so I never have any partially printed pages.
We now have two Phaser 8860 printers in our large office. When our second printer needed to be replaced, we purchased another Phaser 8860 because of how much we liked the first one.
I would recommend this to others.

I am very much a admirer of my Phaser 8860MFP since the first day. The intent was to gain efficiencies and effectiveness in my organizational communication and management information thereby reducing time and effort involved. With this device, our operating cost compared to HP has dropped a lot and there are a lot more functionality coming out of this unit with everything held consistent. The scan and fax function is not only easy to do, but it is also user friendly in managing and dessiminate information throughout out organization and our customers. Once we linked the electronic functions to our PC capability, organizing and managing e-information became a breeze and e-commerce was so much easier to make happen. I strongly recommend this unit to anyone seeking ease in usage and best value ROI.

When we purchased our 8860MFP we were a new business and just starting to grow. Our needs have changed, and we are upgrading to a more appropriate Xerox product for our current needs. The 8860MFP took a great deal of constant use for 3 years and is still going strong!

The Phaser 8860 is a great office printer. It consistently prints great color prints, is fast for large print jobs and easy to use. The double-sided print feature has malfunctioned a few times, but Xerox has great customer service and maintenance and has fixed the problem when it occurs. Overall a great product.

This printer consistantly produces great quality images. The ink "cartridges" are like bars of colored wax . I hadn't seen anything like this until using this printer. Very, very easy to replace. Clean. Neat. No mess, no fuss. Very nice!
The copy and scan quality are both also very excellent quality.
On the negative side, set-up can be a bit difficult and I found some issues with easy of loading software/drivers for Win7. No problem with WinXP Pro, but 7 didn't seem to want to work properly.
Warm-up time can be a little long, but I believe that is expected and still reasonable for the trade off (wasting engergy vs. longer warm-up).
Have to say that this is a sweet machine!
I would recommend this to others.

The printer prints very good, clear copies. It seems like it should be able to print more quickly though. The biggest drawback we have is the cost of the ink, and how long it lasts.... Each cartridge is over $100. I would recommend purchasing a better machine which has a lower toner cost. You will see your return back very quickly if you are printing 500-700 pages per month.
